Moving Water is an interactive sculpture made out of wood, steel, acrylic, and magnets. The piece is a game of sorts to help us better understand the ways we move water around the valley. As the wheel moves around the sculpture like water through canals, it travels downhill and uphill. You will notice it doesn't take much to get the wheel to travel downward. This is because gravity is doing the work, making this process simple. To keep the wheel moving uphill, however, we need to generate momentum. This takes energy- energy that you generate by tilting and turning the piece. You may notice that moving the water upward is a little more challenging than you first imagined.
